Pappis Demba Cisse says he is not going to get caught up in the disappointment of not making a move to England this season, after Newcastle failed in a deadline bid for the striker.

"Staying on at Freiburg is no reason for me to feel frustrated,” the Freiburg star said.

"I am not looking back. I am attempting to start every match in the same mood as I always do. I am trying to make sure the team is successful."

The 26-year-old was one of multiple strikers that Newcastle chased on deadline day, but were unable to lock down.

Bryan Ruiz and Modibo Maiga were also offered deals to make the move to St James’ Park, but Newcastle were too late with the two, and in particular Ruiz, who had already agreed to terms with Fulham when the bid came through.

The Toon will now have to wait until January to fill the shoes of the departed Andy Carroll, and fans have expressed their discontent over the situation with Alan Pardew and the Newcastle board.
