Chelsea have dispatched scouts to watch Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic.

Andre Villas-Boas sent staff to watch the player on Friday night, when the 21-year-old played in Montenegro's 2-1 defeat against Wales.

It's the second time Chelsea have been to watch the versatile forward, who can also play in the wing position.

Sport Mediaset claim that this scouting trip has sparked the Viola into action, with the Serie 'A' side looking to hold fresh contract talks with the player in an effort to keep Jovetic out of the clutches of Chelsea, who spent big this summer bringing young players of a similar ilk to Stamford Bridge.

It's claimed by the Italian report that a four-year deal could be placed on the table, although Chelsea will be hoping for further delays as they prepare to make a January swoop for the player.

Didier Drogba's stalling talks at Chelsea are also cited as a reason behind the Blues' pursuit of Jovetic, with the Ivorian in the final two-years of his current deal and yet to commit over his future in west London.
