Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes wants to leave the club in the January transfer window, according to manager Harry Redknapp.
The former PSV Eindhoven man was left out of Spurs' squad to face Wolves at the weekend after Brad Friedel won the No.1 jersey following his move from Aston Villa.
And according to Tottenham boss Redknapp, Gomes wants out.
“I’ve not bombed Gomes out and made him No.3 that’s for sure. He’s trained hard but, in all honesty, he’s looking to move on in January. If the opportunity comes for him to play, I’m sure he will take it," he said.
A number of high profile errors, against the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid forced Redknapp's hand in the summer, as Tottenham brought in 40-year-old Friedel on the free.
Tottenham do have Carlo Cudicini in their ranks if Gomes does leave in January, but at 38, Spurs may feel a third younger keeper may need to be recruited for the future.
