Ruben out to ruin Arsenal

Blackburn Rovers striker Ruben Rochina is confident his side can secure their first win of the season against Arsenal this weekend.

Rochina notched his first goal for the club as Rovers won their first point of the campaign against Fulham on Sunday, but the Spaniard is hoping Steve Kean's side can take all three points when they host The Gunners.

Arsene Wenger's side drew with Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, and Rochina hopes they can be caught unawares.

“Fulham are a good team and I think it was a good point,” said Rochina.

“It was very important. The game wasn’t at home, it was a difficult game.

“Arsenal is a good game but I think we must work hard and I think we can win the game.

“They are a great team but we have many good players and a good team. I think we can win.

“Next weekend I will try for that, and the other players the same.”

Kean's reluctance to blood both Rochina and Mauro Formica immediately in the Barclays Premier League appears to be paying dividends, with both players producing their best form in the early part of the season.

Formica helped Rovers win two penalties against Everton earlier in the season, while Rochina scored twice against Sheffield Wednesday before his blockbuster against Fulham.

“It was a great moment,” he said.

“I think it was the best moment since I arrived here, but the most important was the one point for the team. I think the team go up little by little.

“I think it is not my best moment, I think I go little by little for my best fitness.

“It is my third goal but the important thing is the team play good and win the games.”
