Mancini calls for City to improve

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said his side must improve after drawing 1-1 with Napoli in their Champions League debut.

The City manager was pleased with the spirit his players showed to fight back from behind, but admitted nerves may have affected the team.

Mancini was in a confident mood though, claiming City will produce a much better performance against Bayern Munich in two weeks time.


Ryan Giggs became the oldest scorer to play in the Champions League after equalizing against Benfica last night with a stunning strike.

Giggs’ 27th goal in the competition earned Manchester United a hard fought 1-1 draw at the Estadio da Luiz in their Group C opener.

After the game, Sir Alex Ferguson reiterated David De Gea’s position as the Red Devils’ No 1, despite Anders Lindergaard’s fine performance.

Tottenham are in European action tonight, having travelled to Greece to face PAOK Salonika in their Europa League Group A opener.

Harry Redknapp has rested key players ahead of Sunday’s clash against Liverpool, with Jake Livermore and Giovani dos Santos set to start tonight.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is ready to rival AC Milan for the signing of talented young Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is reported to be lining up a move for Juventus star Milos Krasic to improve his options on the wing.

And finally Everton manager David Moyes has admitted he may be forced to sell Marounne Fellaini if the midfielder refuses to agree to a new deal.
