Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United are beginning to see the best of Luis Nani after the Portuguese winger's man-of-the-match display against Chelsea.

Nani netted the second of United's three goals during the victory at Old Trafford; smashing an unstoppable shot from over 20 yards into the top corner of Petr Cech's net.

The 24-year-old was denied by the crossbar during the second-half, while he also won United a penalty, which Wayne Rooney failed to convert.

Nani's recent form is a continuation of his exploits last term, when he was voted player of the season by his United colleagues after a year which yielded 13 goals and 17 assists for club and country.

And Ferguson has heaped praise on his fleet-footed midfielder, who is beginning to draw comparisons with compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo with increasing regularity.

“The Nani finish was fantastic," said the United boss. "It was an unbelievable finish. He is a terrific player.

“He is starting to mature.

"We are going to get the best years out of him."

Nani, meanwhile, has applauded the endeavour of his colleagues as United maintained their 100 percent start of the Barclays Premier League campaign on Sunday.

Victory over Chelsea ensured the reigning champions held onto their position at the top of the table and, with Manchester City drawing against Fulham, opened up a two-point gap on their rivals.

"I think it's big work from all the team, we've been working very hard all together," Nani told Sky Sports.

"We're a compact team, playing fantastic football, one, two touch and we've been scoring a lot of goals.

"I think it's very important that we're together and have confidence in our games."
