Spurs fans love Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor believes Tottenham fans have already forgotten about his Arsenal connections thanks to the goalscoring prowess he has displayed during his short spell with the north London club.

The Togolese striker marked his White Hart Lane bow with a brace against Liverpool as Spurs routed the nine-men Reds 4-0 on Sunday.

This made it three goals in two Spurs outings for Adebayor, after the 27-year-old had also netted the previous weekend during a comfortable victory over Wolves at Molineux.

Adebayor joined Spurs during the closing days of the transfer window after he was allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium on loan by Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

However, with Adebayor having spent a fruitful spell at the Emirates Stadium in the past, doubts had been raised as to whether or not Spurs fans would be able to warm to a former Arsenal star.

But, says the former Real Madrid forward, supporters already love him - and will so even more should he continue to find the net this season.

"I'm very happy, very delighted," Adebayor told Sky Sports. "It's always important to score your first goal at home. I have done it already away.

"I know the fans all love me because that's what they're looking for, a player who can score goals.

"I'm very happy that everything is going well for me at this club.

"Hopefully I can keep up the hard work and keep going."
