Chris Cohen is poised to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the knee injury he suffered against Derby, with Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren bracing himself for bad news.
The versatile Cohen laid injured on the ground as Jamie Ward embarked on a mazy run to score Derby's equalising goal in the clash between the East Midlands rivals at the City Ground on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was helped off before the game could be restarted.
McClaren said: "We fear the worst. It is unfortunate because he has been one of our best players this season in all positions.
"He is a fantastic lad, a great worker with a fantastic attitude and it is such a shame for him.
"But let's wait and see what the scan says and hope it is not too bad."
