Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the future of Swiss goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, after a match-fixing scandal relegated his side Olympiakos Volos.

Volos have been relegated to Greece's amateur league, leaving all players free to leave for nothing, hence alerting Tottenham and a number of English sides.

The 26-year-old has been coveted by Everton and Newcastle United, but Tottenham now appear to lead the race to sign the stopper.

While with Lokomotiv Moscow in 2009, Jakupovic underwent a medical at Tottenham, but failed to agree a deal.

With Heurelho Gomes unsettled at Tottenham, and Brad Friedel at the tender age of 40 and Carlo Cudicini 38, the club will be keen to bring a fresh face sooner rather than later.
