Skipper Fabricio Coloccini proved Newcastle's last-ditch hero as the Barclays Premier League side edged past Nottingham Forest 4-3 in a Carling Cup thriller.

The Argentinian headed home Gabriel Obertan's cross in the second minute of injury time at the end of extra-time to send the Magpies into the fourth round.

Forest had earlier come from behind three times with Robbie Findley, Matt Derbyshire and Marcus Tudgay cancelling out Peter Lovenkrands' double and Danny Simpson's fluke 93rd-minute strike.
