Tottenham are planning a January swoop for highly-rated striker Eder Lopes according to the Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old starlet currently plies his trade in Portugal for Academica de Coimbra, but is out of contract at the end of the 2011-12 campaign and could be targeted for a cut-price move.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has already added a number of talented youngsters to his ranks at White Hart Lane over the summer, but is reportedly keen to take a closer look at Lopes with a view to making a January bid.

Born in Guinea-Bissau in west Africa, the player would require a work permit before completing a move to north London, and could prove to be a sticking point for any potential deal.

But with Tottenham involved in the UEFA Europa League this season, and Redknapp having already indicated that he will use the competition to give experience to a number of his Spurs youngsters - it could prove the perfect opportunity to hand Lopes some competitive football if he is given the green light for a move to England.
