Bournemouth find themselves in the midst of an injury crisis as they prepare to host Hartlepool.

Five first-team squad members have already been ruled out, while a further two are rated 50-50 for the clash, leaving boss Lee Bradbury with a selection dilemma.

Mark Molesley's hamstring tear is likely to keep him out of action for four weeks and Nathan Byrne has been told he will need eight weeks to recover from ankle ligament damage.

Midfielder Harry Arter and defender Adam Barrett are battling against groin strains, and the pair will face late fitness tests before the npower League One match.

Shaun McDonald has made good progress in his recovery from a hairline fracture to the toe, however, with the club targeting their reserve fixture next week as a potential comeback date for the defender.

New recruit Stephane Zubar is likely to make his debut in the middle of defence, while Ben Burgess is expected to move to right midfield and Stephen Purches to right-back.

Hartlepool defender Evan Horwood is expected to return to the squad.

Horwood has missed the last three games due to a groin injury but came through 90 minutes unscathed for the reserves in midweek and is back in contention.

First-team coach Mick Wadsworth, who has no new injury or suspension problems, could also be boosted by the return of strikers Colin Larkin and James Brown.

Larkin returned to reserve-team action in midweek after a knock as did Brown, who has yet to make a first-team start in the league this season due to an ankle problem and then illness.

Wadsworth is not expected to make any changes to his in-form side, who are looking to extend their unbeaten league start to nine matches.M
