Barnsley manager Keith Hill is set to offer midfielder Jacob Butterfield a new deal at the Tykes.

Butterfield, who scored his second goal in three games at Birmingham last weekend, has impressed Hill and his management team so far this season. The 21-year-old has even been handed the captain's armband recently and Hill revealed he is keen on keeping him at the club.

"There are no knee-jerk reactions to good performances but do I want Jacob Butterfield to stay at this club? Yes," Hill told the Yorkshire Post.

"If we can enter negotiations to extend his stay, brilliant."

"He's quality, he's got the world at his feet.

"If he keeps producing, he'll not just be popular in our dressing room but across the footballing world."
