Cardiff have failed in six attempts to bring players in as emergency cover.
The Bluebirds are in the middle of an injury crisis, with at least eight first-teamers unlikely to feature against Southampton on Wednesday night. And manager Malky Mackay has revealed his side have tried to get new recruits to the Cardiff City Stadium as temporary back-up without any success.
"So far there have been at least six we have made calls on and it's just not suited the player or the club," he told the South Wales Echo.
"But we keep going and meanwhile we patch up the plasters that are here.
"Clubs either cannot give out now due to injury situations at their own club or players don't want to come.
"We have certainly been very busy though."
