Manchester United have announced they have agreed a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

The move will be completed once he agrees personal terms and undertakes a medical.

A statement on their website reads: "Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.

"Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.

"In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo is re-joining Man United

According to The Athletic's  David Ornstein, United are paying Juventus €15m + €8m in add-ons.

While Ronaldo is now 36 and nearing the end of his career, that fee could prove to be a bargain.

United players have been reacting with excitement following the news.

Bruno Fernandes wrote: "‘Agent Bruno’? Welcome back home @Cristiano."

Marcus Rashford said: "Wow wow wow, he’s home".

While Jadon Sancho, who also joined the club this summer, wrote: "SCARY HOURS!"

United have not won a trophy since they lifted the Europa League title in 2017.

The Red Devils will be hoping that Ronaldo will help them end their drought and lead them to glory both domestically and in Europe this season.

Should he complete his move, Ronaldo could make his second debut for the club when they take on Newcastle at Old Trafford on September 11.
