Boss Brian McDermott praised the spirit of his Reading team after he watched them overturn a two-goal deficit in the last 17 minutes to win 3-2 at Bristol City.
Goals from Jobi McAnuff, Adam Le Fondre and Mathieu Manset secured a precious three points for the Royals, after Albert Adomah and Brett Pitman had handed City a comfortable cushion with less than a quarter of the game remaining.
And afterwards McDermott recognised the fighting spirit in his Reading players, who have now won two and drawn one of their last three Championship games. He said: "You've got that (spirit) or you haven't. It comes with results and it comes over time."
McDermott added: "I've been lucky enough to have such a good group and we've still got that spirit and you have to maintain that. We've done that and we've given our fans a really good night.
"At 2-0 Adam Federici kept us in the game. He made two or three brilliant saves, and then when Jobi got the goal I thought we could go on and we certainly did. Our substitutes came on and did well, and that's why we're such a good group.
"We have to be absolutely delighted to come here, 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go and win the game 3-2 - it's fantastic for our fans. It gives us the momentum of getting seven points from the last nine. We were hanging in there. There were times we didn't play as well as we wanted to but it was a fantastic result."
In contrast, City boss Keith Millen could not comprehend the defeat.
And the Robins manager questioned the decision not to award Adomah a third-minute goal. The Ghanaian was given offside in the build-up to his strike, with replays suggesting the officials got it wrong.
Millen said: "It's probably the hardest defeat that we've had to accept. We had a fantastic 65 minutes and should have been three-up at half-time.
"We've seen Albert's goal and he was two yards onside so the officials have made a bad decision. For them to even get back in the game was unbelievable."
