Ian Wright believes that half of Arsenal fans would gladly seen Emmanuel Adebayor return to the Emirates Stadium.
The Togolese striker left Arsenal for Manchester City in 2009, having scored 62 goals during his four years with the club.
But the manner of Adebayor's departure left many Arsenal fans branding the 27-year-old a 'mercenary' and he further damaged his reputation with Gunners supporters after scoring against them for City.
After netting in a 4-2 win at Eastlands, Adebayor run the length of the pitch to goad the travelling Arsenal support, while he was also handed a retrospective suspension after kicking Robin van Persie in the face.
Wright, however, feels Arsenal are crying out for another potent goalscorer and says the forward, now with Tottenham, would be accepted by 50 percent of fans.
"While half of Arsenal fans hate him, I reckon the other half would have him back tomorrow," said the Arsenal legend.
"He's capable of scoring more than 20 goals every season.
"Maybe Arsene Wenger lost patience with him but I certainly believe Harry Redknapp is the man to get the best out of him.
"Even if Spurs are having to pay a loan fee of a few million, Adebayor is a very shrewd signing and I have no doubt Harry will pull out all the stops and try to sign him permanently."
