Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is being linked with a January transfer move for midfielder Raffael.

The Brazilian playmaker has been earning rave reviews in the Bundesliga so far this term, helping Hertha Berlin back to the German top flight as champions in the second tier last term.

The Metro claim Wenger has had the player scouted on a number of occasions so far this season, and is preparing a £4 million offer to bring Raffael to the Emirates at the next available opportunity.

Arsenal were linked with a handful of midfielders this summer, and added Mikel Arteta to their ranks on a permanent basis and Yossi Benayoun on a season-long loan deal.

However, the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri meant Arsenal didn't strengthen in the position, and Wenger continues to scour the market in an effort to improve.

Whilst Raffael would represent a cheaper option in comparison to the likes of Yann M'Vila and Eden Hazard, his lack of experience at Champions League or international level would make him a gamble in the eyes of many Arsenal fans.
