Liverpool starlet target Christian Eriksen has been dubbed one of the world's greatest footballers by his current boss.

The Ajax sensation is being linked with a move away from the Amsterdam Arena in January, after speculation surrounded the Dane's future during the summer transfer window. AC Milan are also thought to be keen on the teenager.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is a known admirer of the playmaker, with Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli also taking an interest whilst in Holland nine months ago securing a deal for striker Luis Suarez.

Were the Anfield outfit successful in their pursuit of Eriksen, Ajax boss Frank de Boer believes Liverpool would be getting one of the best players on the planet at the current time.

"He is one of the world's greatest footballers at the moment. He can do things nobody else can," said the Godenzonen chief.

The Reds are expected to be busy in the transfer window once again at the turn of the year, with Dalglish looking to strengthen in a number of areas at Liverpool as they pursue a place in the Champions League.

Eriksen would fit the Merseyside outfit's philosophy of investing in young players, although will face some strong competition if they wish to add to the likes of Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll at Liverpool.
