Liverpool and Rangers will contest a friendly later this month, the two clubs have announced.

The Reds will travel to Glasgow on Tuesday, October 18 for what is being billed as a 'prestigious' fixture between two of the most famous clubs in Britain.

Liverpool have been allocated 4000 tickets for the encounter, and the arrival of the Merseysiders is likely to see a packed house at Ibrox.

The Anfield club will bring with them two former Rangers players, as Danny Wilson and Charlie Adam make their first returns to the club since leaving Scotland.

Adam joined Liverpool via Blackpool, while Wilson signed for the Reds in the summer of 2010 having come up through the Gers youth ranks.

"We are delighted to confirm Liverpool will be heading to Ibrox in October," said Rangers boss Ally McCoist.

"They are a fantastic club and their squad is packed with world class players so I have no doubt this game will capture the imagination of our supporters.”
