Romelu Lukaku reminded everyone that Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t the only player making his homecoming in the Premier League on Saturday.

In the afternoon, Ronaldo marked his second debut at Manchester United with a brace during a 4-1 victory over Newcastle at Old Trafford.

But whatever Ronaldo can do, so can Lukaku.

On his first appearance back at Stamford Bridge since rejoining the club, the Belgian also bagged a brace as Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-0.

It’s now three goals in three matches for Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel’s side moved alongside Manchester United at the top of the table.

However, it wasn’t the perfect night for Lukaku.

His first goal was him at his very best.

He latched onto Mateo Kovacic’s brilliant pass and showed brilliant pace to get away from Axel Tuanzebe. He dummied to shoot with his left, cut inside the defender and finished cooly with his right.

Superb.

How would Lukaku celebrate scoring his first ever goal at Stamford Bridge?

With a knee slide, of course.

However, it went horribly wrong as Lukaku’s knees got caught in the turf and he went flying onto his stomach.

He was soon mobbed by his teammates, while Marcos Alonso rubbed his knees to ensure he wasn’t injured. Fortunately, he wasn’t. But he could have easily done some serious damage.

Lukaku rounded off his night by firing in a terrific left-footed strike to make it 3-0.

However, the following day, the striker hasn’t forgotten about his failed celebration.

On Sunday morning, he tweeted: “No more sliding on my knees after yesterday’s celebration…”

Yeah, that’s probably for the best, Romelu.
