Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo is eyeing another scoring record despite only breaking the La Liga scoring record last season.

The Portuguese international scored 40 goals for Madrid last season, breaking an all-time league record.

But instead of resting on his laurels, Ronaldo is keen to break the record yet again.

"In football nothing is impossible and every record can be broken," Ronaldo said.

"I hope to surpass the previous record, but I want to thank my team-mates for making it possible for me to win the trophy.

"We will see what happens in the future, you never know what may happen, but I could beat the record."

Ronaldo may have an awesome scoring feat to try and repeat, but he refused to allow that distract him against Espanyol at the weekend, as he laid on two goals for his teammates.

"I like helping my team-mates score, it is also part of my job," he added. "They pass to me and I pass to them. I always do my best for the team so we can win."

Ronaldo surpassed Telmo Zarra's all-time scoring record of 38 in La Liga last season, but also outscored Lionel Messi, who netted 33.

However, the former Manchester United man was level on 53 goals in the whole season with Messi, and will be looking to overhaul the Argentine this time around.
