Wolverhampton Wanderers could revive their interest in Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car when the transfer window reopens in January, according to Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

The Croatia international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and turned down a switch to West Ham United last year.
According to French media outlet RMC Sport, Wolves tabled a £12.85million bid for Caleta-Car late in the summer transfer window. While the report suggests Marseille were looking to cash in on the 24-year-old before last week's deadline, a deal could not be struck.
Wolves' offer came in the midst of Marseille looking to offset costs incurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the Ligue One outfit were looking to recoup £17million for Caleta-Car's services.
Bruno Lage, who was appointed as Wolves' new head coach in June, was interested in acquiring Caleta-Car after a fine season which saw him make 39 appearances and score two goals for Marseille.
He also made two appearances for Croatia at Euro 2020 but a bout of coronavirus and uncertainty over his future means Caleta-Car went into the weekend having failed to get involved in any competitive action so far this season.

Wolves correspondent Hatfield believes Lage could reignite his interest in Caleta-Car either when the transfer window reopens in January or next summer.
He told GMS: "If Wolves are interested in getting it done and Marseille are keen to allow him to leave, it could be one they revisit in the future.

"I don't know the reasoning behind Marseille wanting to get rid of him but maybe it's a money issue.
"It's one they could revisit and he is another exciting player who fans would love to see, I'm sure. If Wolves are interested, they could potentially have a chat with Marseille either in the winter or next summer."
Would Caleta-Car improve Wolves' defence?
Wolves headed into yesterday's clash with newly-promoted Watford having failed to pick up a single Premier League point.
However, they had only lost each top flight fixture by a one-goal margin and, as a result, there is no reason for Lage or Wolves fans to panic just yet.
Lage has a lack of central defensive options, meaning Conor Coady, Romain Saiss and Max Kilman have been at the heart of Wolves' defence for each Premier League clash since the campaign got underway, so an alternative option such as Caleta-Car could be beneficial.
