Liverpool comfortably beat Leeds in their Premier League match on Sunday evening.

The Reds held a one-goal lead going into half-time courtesy of Mohamed Salah's 20th minute strike.

Second half strikes from Fabinho and Sadio Mane gave The Reds a convincing 3-0 victory.

However, the game was overshadowed by a serious injury sustained by Harvey Elliott in the second half.

The youngster was in visible discomfort after going down under a challenge from Pascal Struijk.

Medical staff rushed onto the pitch and would later take Elliott away on a stretcher.

Elliott has since been discharged from hospital and will undergo surgery in the next few days.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, was visibly emotional when discussing the injury in his post-match interview.

He said: "It is a bad injury. His ankle. I heard it was dislocated and they couldn’t put it back and he is now in hospital.

"We have to wait. He played another incredible game again. He's an incredible player. Now he's out.

“Do I want such a young boy to have this experience in his career? No. We will play football without him, but we will wait for him as well because he is a top player."

He added: “I saw the situation. I could see his foot was not in the right place. That is why we were all shocked."

We hope Elliott recovers quickly and he's back on the pitch as soon as possible.
