Daniil Medvedev beat Novak Djokovic to win his first major title

The Russian held and then broke Djokovic's serve once again to go two games away from the title.

Medvedev bought up Championship point but he inexplicably double faulted three times to give his opponent a lifeline.

Djokovic's tale was up and he battled back to make it 4-5 in the third set.

But it was all too little too late as Medvedev conjured two more Championship points and he made no mistake with the second to clinch his first Grand Slam title.

Medvedev could hardly believe it and he slumped to the ground before being congratulated by a gracious Djokovic at the net.

What a simply stunning performance by the 25-year-old.
