Marc Pugh scored twice and set up a third goal as Bournemouth held off a determined second half comeback to beat Yeovil 3-2 at Dean Court and clinch a place in the last 16 of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Bournemouth's trio came in the space of a 15-minute purple patch, with veteran Steve Fletcher instrumental in Pugh's first two goals. He won an aerial duel to set up the first and created chaos between goalkeeper Jed Steer and defender Kerrea Gilbert to gift Pugh a second.

Pugh turned creator for Bournemouth's third on the half-hour. Bondz N'Gala bundled his corner into his own net. Yeovil rallied after the break, with substitute Steve Maclean reducing the arrears with a cross shot and Max Ehmer setting up a grandstand finish with a second goal two minutes from the end of normal time.

Jake Jervis emerged as the Swindon hero as the Robins reached the third round with a 2-1 victory at Exeter.

The striker, who returned to the team after missing Friday's defeat at Macclesfield, opened the scoring after 18 minutes when he capitalised on some poor Exeter defending to lash home from 12 yards.

Jervis then capitalised on a howler by Exeter goalkeeper Artur Krysiak to double Swindon's lead in the 35th minute.

Exeter raised their game after the break and had numerous chances to force something from the game, but all they had to show for their efforts was a sublime chip from Daniel Nardiello 18 minutes from time.

Izale McLeod struck twice as Barnet battled back to beat Gillingham 3-1 in their second-round clash, while substitute Darryl Duffy's double sent League Two Cheltenham Town through as they recorded a 3-1 victory over Wycombe.

Ryan Hall fired Southend into the quarter-finals with a goal in each half as they defeated Dagenham 3-1 and Oxford duo Robert Hall and Deane Smalley notched two quickfire second-half goals to beat Aldershot 2-1.

Goalkeeper Jack Turner proved AFC Wimbledon's saviour as they recovered from blowing a late lead to defeat Stevenage 4-3 on penalties after the scores was drawn 2-2 after 90 minutes.
