Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming and is generating huge excitement among vast segments of the gaming community.
Insomniac Games made the announcement during this year’s PlayStation Showcase and was one of the talking points from fans who came away from the online expo.
Typically a series that has been a PS4-exclusive, the same will occur as the Spider-Man games are set to receive a next-gen upgrade onto PS5.
The last edition of the series, Miles Morales, received high praise from critics and players on Metacritic with a score of 84 and a user score of 7.6.
Whether they can capitalise on these scores with their upcoming title – remains to be seen. But Spider-Man will be teaming up in Miles Morales with a possible co-op mode on the cards, which would be a fantastic addition to the franchise.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date
At this time, no official release date has been confirmed by Insomniac Games but they have advised that Spider-Man 2 won’t arrive until at least 2023.
This was confirmed during the official reveal trailer (via YouTube), which came up at the end of the video which you can see below.
With the gaming industry being rocked as a whole by the COVID-19 pandemic, this timeframe could have something to do with it although it could be a case of Insomniac wanting the time to refine the game and bring out its full potential.
While we all loved the first two games, it will be interesting to see if Spider-Man 2 can live up to expectations.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released for the PlayStation 5 only – but don’t rule out a version being made available for the PC in due course.
We will update this article as soon as more information emerges in the coming months – stay tuned!
