UFC icon Conor McGregor, who is currently on the mend after breaking his leg earlier this year, has called Machine Gun Kelly a 'little vanilla ice boy rapper' after the pair seemed to have a scuffle on the red carpet at the VMAs.

Pictures and subsequent videos from the MTV Video Music Awards appeared to show McGregor, 33, and Machine Gun Kelly, 31, being kept apart by security, with the Irishman throwing his drink at the music star after being ignored when going to greet him.

According to a report from TMZ Sports, the beef all started when McGregor went over to the rapper to greet him and get a picture with him. However, his approach was declined, which clearly triggered the fighter.

So much so, a scuffle broke out, with security intervening and separating the two. This was then when McGregor threw his drink at MGK.

The former UFC champion was attending the ceremony at the Barclays Center in New York to hand out an award, whilst MGK was present because he was receiving one.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in the aftermath of the madness, Dublin-born McGregor said “nothing” happened.

He said: “Absolutely nothing. I don’t know. He showed up, and I don’t know. I don’t know the guy.

“Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters, people that actually fight, you know what I mean.

I certainly don’t fight little vanilla ice boy rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.

Machine Gun Kelly was also asked about the red carpet incident, but he opted to walk away instead of answering.

It turns out McGregor doesn't need the UFC to steal headlines, nor does he need actual fighters around him.
