Harvey Elliott's season may be over after the Liverpool midfielder picked up a serious injury in the team's 3-0 victory away at Leeds United last Sunday.In the second half, the teenage sensation was tackled by Pascal Struijk near the halfway line and it resulted in him having to be stretchered off the field of play.Struijk was shown a straight red card for the challenge and the decision to dismiss the Leeds defender is one that's been the centre of debate ever since.The Belgium-born defender appeared to win the ball, but the 'scissor motion' he made to do so was what resulted in Elliott picking up a serious injury.Many believe that's the reason why the call to send Struijk off was indeed the correct one.However, there are more than a few that claim the Leeds man should not have received a red card and one of them is Elliott himself.Leeds United vs Liverpool | Football Terrace
The 18-year-old took to Instagram to defend Struijk, stating that the horrible incident at Elland Road last Sunday was simply a "freak accident".
Elliott wrote on the social media platform: “Wasn’t his (Struijk) fault whatsoever. Neither was it a red card. Just a freak accident but these things happen in football. I’ll be back stronger 100%. Thanks for all the support.”

For a player so young to have the guts to come out and say that after suffering a serious injury is quite something.
Struijk has already apologised to Elliott on social media, the centre-back posting a touching statement from his official Instagram account.
He wrote: "In today's game, something happened that I would never wish on anyone! @harveyelliott07, my thoughts are with you.
"I'm gutted and never meant for this to happen. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the pitch soon."
