Joe Wainman is hoping that young winger Crysencio Summerville will get his first-team opportunity under Marcelo Bielsa this season.

What is Summerville's situation?

Having made strides on loan with ADO Den Haag two seasons ago, Leeds opted to bring the Dutch striker to Elland Road for an undisclosed fee last summer from Feyenoord.

Summerville is still waiting to make his senior debut but has been on the bench in every first-team game this season and impressed playing for the Under-23s last season, scoring six times, and setting up six more in just 12 appearances.

He also made the step-up of appearing in the EFL Trophy, chipping in with an assist against Barrow.

What has Wainman said about Summerville?

Wainman is confident that following the recent departures of Helder Costa and Ian Poveda, the teenager's chance to impress Bielsa isn't far away.

When asked him whether he can follow in the footsteps of fellow Dutchman Pascal Struijk and get minutes in the first-team, Wainman told GIVEMESPORT:

"I would hope so. I'm really excited to see him in the first-team. I think it's a real testament to him because the fact we've moved Poveda and Costa on."

Is Summerville likely to see any first-team action?

Raphinha and Jack Harrison are clearly the man men out wide for Leeds, with the deadline day addition of Dan James meaning that Summerville is still some way off a regular first-team place.

But having been included in the squad for every Premier League game this season, the 19-year-old is clearly knocking on the door and will be hoping he gets the call for his senior debut in the near future.

With Leeds unable to bring in another striker this summer, Bielsa doesn't have a great deal of squad depth in the wide areas, so Summerville will be targeting next week's Carabao Cup tie at Fulham for his first taste of senior action, with the Argentine likely to make changes at Craven Cottage.
