The WWE contract of former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano is just a few months away from expiring, it has been reported.

Fightful Select is reporting that Johnny Gargano's deal with WWE is set to expire on December 3, roughly around the same time that WWE originally thought Adam Cole's contract was up.

Johnny Gargano's WWE contract is expiring December 3, 2021. WWE sources confirmed the news with Fightful Select on Monday afternoon.

The report notes that WWE and Gargano have not yet entered contract negotiations, but those talks are expected to take place this coming fall:

Thus far, WWE sources have indicated to Fightful that Johnny Gargano and WWE have not entered into negotiations to extend his contract, but that WWE "expected to" in the Fall.

Johnny Gargano started working with WWE in 2015, but officially signed with the company in 2016. Apart from a brief run on the main roster in 2019, Gargano has almost exclusively worked in NXT.

Gargano is just the latest member of the WWE roster to be out of contract over the coming months, with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens both reportedly having their deals expire soon.

While details surrounding Sami Zayn are fairly limited right now, it is expected that Kevin Owens will be leaving WWE when his current deal expires on January 31, 2022.

As of right now, what the future holds for Johnny Gargano remains somewhat unclear, and the report certainly does not note whether or not he is going to be leaving when his current deal is up.

Johnny Gargano will almost certainly be involved in tonight's special "rebrand" episode of NXT, which is slated to be a big show for the brand, with a new NXT Champion set to be crowned.
