Jose Mourinho picked the best XI of players he's managed, featuring Chelsea and Real legends

Jose Mourinho and John Terry

Jose Mourinho's 1000th game in management ended in a win on the weekend as Roma beat Sassuolo 2-1.

The two sides were locked at 1-1 when Stephan El Shaarawy hit the back of the net in stoppage time.

Mourinho went wild as he sprinted down the touchline to celebrate with his players.

The Portuguese legend has managed some of the world's best clubs during his time as a manager.

He became recognised as a top manager after winning the Champions League with Porto and went on to manage Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham and now Roma.

He's managed so many world-class players during his 21-year career. But who makes his best XI?

Mourinho named his best XI last year. View who he selected below...

Petr Cech; Javier Zanetti, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, William Gallas; Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Mesut Ozil, Eden Hazard; Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo

The team is dominated by players Mourinho managed at Chelsea.

The most eyebrow raising selection of Chelsea players is possibly Gallas.

The Frenchman made the side at left-back ahead of Ashley Cole, while Marcelo also missed out.

Mourinho chose just one player that won the Champions League under him at Inter Milan: legendary defender Zanetti.

Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid

He was still performing at a high level under Mourinho despite being in his late 30s.

And two players from Mourinho's stint at Real Madrid make his best XI: Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil.

Ronaldo is one of the best players in history and had to make the side. Ozil declined during his time at Arsenal but he did some extraordinary things under Mourinho at Real.

The Portuguese manager chose not to select any players from his time at United and Tottenham.

Mourinho has managed so many legendary players that a plethora of world-class players don't make the XI.

Notable names to not make his side include Iker Casillas, David de Gea, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric, Wesley Sneijder, Deco, Kaka, Arjen Robben, Samuel Eto'o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Harry Kane.
