Businessman James Brent has said the earliest he can complete a takeover of Plymouth is next Friday.

Brent and his Akkeron Group are close to finalising a deal to take control of the Pilgrims, potentially ending months of financial struggles and the threat of liquidation. But, while he and his legal team are working tirelessly to tie up the intricacies of the agreement as quickly as possible, Brent has urged Plymouth fans to be patient for a little while longer.

"The earliest physical date is Friday week (October 14), but it is challenging due to the logistics of each of the documents," he told the Plymouth Herald.

"We are in the documentation phase now. There are numerous drafts of numerous documents going back and forth between various lawyers.

"All those discussions have been constructive and people are being very helpful as we move, hopefully, to a successful conclusion."
