Hafthor Bjornsson predicts knockout victory over Devon Larratt

Hafthor Bjornsson has predicted he will knock out Devon Larratt in the first round when they meet in a clash of the titans on Saturday night.

The Icelandic strongman will fight for the first time as a professional when he pulls on the 10oz gloves and puts down his headguard in Dubai.

Nicknamed ‘No Limits’, Larratt will arguably have his work cut out against the man known only as ‘The Mountain’.

However, Thor’s great rival, Eddie Hallhas warned that Bjornsson ‘could get battered’ by Larratt, who is currently training at Tristar Gym in Montreal, the home of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre

But Bjornsson believes Larratt could be in for a rude awakening after beating Simon Vallily in an exhibition bout earlier this year.

‘If he’s not ready then he’ll probably get knocked out in the first round’

“Honestly, I have huge respect for Devon,” Bjornsson told The Daily Mirror.

“Because he’s going into this on such short notice, with not much time.

“But to be honest, a fight is a fight and I’m ready – if he’s not ready then he’ll probably get knocked out in the first round, sadly, that’s just the truth.”

Bjornsson also revealed that he had handpicked Larratt as his opponent specifically because he was focused on his rescheduled bout with Hall.

‘I feel that Eddie Hall will bring the same thing’

“I haven’t heard too much,” he added.

“He’s obviously very new to boxing.

“He didn’t have a whole lot of time to prepare himself, but he wasn’t my pick, the promotion picked him as my opponent, because I told them I would fight anyone.

“There were some discussions into fighting Mariusz Pudzianowski who has a lot of experience, but that fight couldn’t go through so we ended up with Devon.

“I don’t know too much about his strategy, game plan or style because he’s so new which is kind of what I need almost, because I feel that Eddie Hall will bring the same thing.

“He has had more time, but he’ll be hard to predict because he’s still new to the sport so finding someone that is new is going to give me good experience.”
