Hafthor Bjornsson is perhaps a name you may not be too familiar with. Unless, that is, you are a Game of Thrones devotee.

More famed for playing Ser Gregor Clegane in the smash-hit HBO series, 'The Mountain' became one of the show's most feared characters due to his sheer size and power, and took the names of many character in the fantasy epic, often sending fans into a cold sweat.

Oberyn Martell, anyone?

With the show now having wrapped, however, the 32-year-old Icelander is making a name for himself in the boxing arena, and ahead of his third bout this weekend against Devon Larratt, he has unveiled a remarkable image transformation.

Having shed close to 100lbs in his attempts of becoming a successful fighter, Bjornsson - now referred to as 'Thor', surely for marketing purposes - will fight the professional arm wrestler and YouTuber on Saturday night.

But the man standing across the ring from the Canadian will be almost completely unrecognisable from his TV persona after slimming down dramatically. Bjornsson has recently posted a handful of images that highlight just how much of a transformation he has undergone.

Check it out below in a few of the images he uploaded.

"Saturday the 18th I’m fighting and I cannot wait to show you my improvements. @devlarratt be ready for war!!"

As a small cast of three different actors who played one of GoT's most notorious characters across eight seasons, since the show wrapped for the final time in 2019, Bjornsson has opted for a drastic change in career path - but not his first.

A former pro basketball player for Icelandic Division 1 side Breidablik, Bjornsson had also been on the strongman circuit since 2010, and was crowned World's Strongest Man in 2018.

Having made his debut versus former Commonwealth gold medalist Simon Vallily back in May, Bjornsson was scheduled to fight former strongman competitor Eddie Hall in Jacksonville this weekend in a bout dubbed 'The Heaviest Boxing Match in History."

However, after Hall was forced to withdraw, the fight with the Newcastle-under-Lyme native will now be shelved for next spring, with Larratt stepping in.

Regardless, after Bjornsson's predictions of a first-round KO in the Sunshine State, his sporting portfolio will almost certainly be on the rise this Saturday night.
