Celtic are looking to continue their overhaul of the squad in a bid to further develop the Ange Postecoglou era, GIVEMESPORT can exclusively reveal.

What's the latest Celtic news?

After a busy summer transfer window that saw eleven players arrive and eight depart, the Scottish giants are now firmly among the clubs interested in a move for Cardiff City defender Clarion Brown.

No stranger to Scottish football, the Northern Ireland international enjoyed a strong loan spell at Livingston last season before being recalled by the Welsh capital side. As it stands, the 23-year-old's contract will expire at the end of the current campaign, allowing foreign clubs to talk to him in January.

Who is Ciaron Brown and why do Celtic want to sign him?

Brown has operated in a number of different positions for both Livingston and Cardiff.

After impressing on trial with the Welsh side in 2018, he was farmed out on loan over three different spells at the Tony Macaroni Arena, operating at both left-back and in central defence.

Since returning to Cardiff, Brown has been deployed in both positions, as well as on the left-hand side of midfield.

According to WhoScored data, he averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 2 clearances per game in the Scottish Premiership last season, while those metrics stood at 1.5, 1.2 and 2.4 respectively in the English Championship.

To suggest football is as easy as simply translating that across playing styles would be ridiculous of course although, for context, they would see him rank within Celtic's top ten players this season.

Does anybody else want to sign Brown?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his standing as an international defender who could soon move for free, Celtic aren't alone in their interest.

Indeed, GMS also understands bitter rivals Rangers have been keeping tabs on his situation, although Cardiff remain keen to tie him down to a new deal.

What has been said about Ciaron Brown?

Speaking to The Daily Record in January, Livingston boss David Martindale talked up Brown's footballing brain.

"He is a massive player for us and he is a great lad around the place," he said.

""Ciaron has got a very good football brain. When I ask him to do a job, he knows what to do and nine times out of ten he will make the right decision.”
