Defender James Wilson has signed a new three-year contract at Bristol City.

The Wales Under-21 international has made 10 appearances for the Robins this season and is delighted to have put pen to paper on a contract that will see him remain at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2014.

"I've worked very hard for (a new contract) so I'm very pleased," he said.

"It's definitely been a turnaround. It doesn't feel great at the moment because of how the team are doing but (it does) on a personal level."

Wilson has had to overcome several injury problems in order to get to this point, leaving him doubly delighted.

"It's down to hard work," he said. "There were times when I didn't think I would play again, but hard work and persistence has paid off."
