Manchester City began their 2021-22 Champions League campaign with an entertaining 6-3 victory over RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium.Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead through Nathan Ake in the 16 minute. City then doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Nordi Mukiele turned the ball into his own net.The impressive Christopher Nkunku pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 42nd minute, only for Riyad Mahrez to make it 3-1 City on the stroke of half-time.Nkunku scored his second goal of the night shortly after the restart before Jack Grealish scored his first Champions League goal.Nkunku completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes left to play, but Joao Cancelo’s excellent strike from outside the box restored City’s two-goal lead and wrapped up all three points before Gabriel Jesus added gloss to the scoreline with a sixth.p1ffljmp2c11pk1kin6h21lm4usgd.jpg

Guardiola goes full Pep on Mahrez

Guardiola, however, was far from impressed at times with his side’s performance.

And at 4-2, the revered Catalan coach was seen screaming at Mahrez on the touchline.

Pep does this from time to time

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Pep go full Pep with one of his players over the years.

Sometimes it’s strangely affectionate, such as the time he was seen screaming in the face of Joshua Kimmich during his time as Bayern Munich head coach.

"I told him he’s one of the best centre-backs in the world," Guardiola said at the time. "He’s got absolutely everything.”

We’re not sure whether Guardiola was pleased with Mahrez on this particular occasion, though.

It certainly didn’t look that way!
