Manchester City romped to a 6-3 win in their Champions League opener against Red Bull Leipzig on Wednesday evening.
Nathan Ake, Nordi Mukiele (OG), Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus all found themselves on the scoresheet as they hit their German opponents for six.
Cancelo’s goal was brilliant.
The Portuguese full-back picked the ball up roughly 25 yards out, took a touch and then struck a beautiful strike that fizzed past Péter Gulácsi and into the net.
But arguably the goal of the night was scored by Grealish.
He picked the ball up on the left-hand side in the 56th minute.
The 26-year-old controlled the ball and drove towards the Leipzig goal, skipped past a Leipzig player and then smashed a lovely effort into the corner of the net.
It was a stunning solo effort in what was Grealish’s Champions League debut.
The former Aston Villa man also got an assist and was arguably the best player on the pitch on the night.

There were many people that questioned the £100m fee City paid Villa for Grealish’s services in the summer.
But he look more and more like a £100m player with every passing week.
He was playing on the biggest stage of them all on Wednesday evening and he was the shining light in a great win.
With Grealish getting better and better every week, he could finally end City’s wait for Champions League glory this season.
Pep Guardiola was very complimentary of Grealish after the game.
“Hopefully it can be the first of many [Champions League appearances],” Guardiola said, per Manchester Evening News.
“I had the feeling that every day he is playing better in many things. I’m pretty sure that he will be better in the future and his contribution was high, it was good and I’m delighted for his game.”
Grealish, meanwhile, was happy with how the game played out.

He told BT Sport, per Sky Sports: “I loved it. I couldn’t wait for it. It was one of those games that had absolutely everything. We’re obviously delighted to get the win against a good team, full of energy. To come away with the three points but also a goal and an assist, I’m delighted personally.
“When I’m in that position off the left-hand side running into the opposition area, I’d back myself one-on-one against anyone to have a go and this time it paid off.
“As soon as the game kicked off, I actually thought to myself, ‘I’ve played in the Champions League now!’ The music and everything was so nice and the game topped it all off.”
