Mohamed Salah is on fire this season.

The Egyptian has scored four goals in five matches in all competitions for Liverpool and looks sharper than ever right now.

He may have missed a penalty during Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over AC Milan on Wednesday but he made amends with a second half equaliser before Jordan Henderson’s winner.

There are slight concerns over the long-term future of Salah, with the club no closer to agreeing on a new contract for the forward. His current deal expires in the summer of 2023.

There were reports that Salah was demanding around £500,000-per-week in order to stay at Anfield, becoming the best-paid player in the club’s history. In truth, it’s hard to argue that he doesn’t deserve it.

On Sunday, Salah scored the 100th Premier League goal of his career to take his tally to an incredible 129 strikes in 208 games for Liverpool.

The Ultimate Mohamed Salah Quiz: How well do you know the Liverpool star?

While his future may not be completely sorted, there’s no doubt that he’s still 100% committed to The Reds.

That much could be seen following Liverpool’s victory over Milan on Wednesday night.

While most players would head home and get a well-deserved sleep after playing in the Champions League, Salah had another thing in mind.

At 3am, he uploaded an Instagram story of him in a swimming pool with goggles on clearly enjoying a recovery session in the early hours of the morning.

It’s no surprise the former Chelsea and Roma man is in such incredible shape.

The 29-year-old obviously takes incredible care over his physique and, if he continues to do so, could easily play late into his thirties.

Another player who is doing just that is a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.

At the age of 36, Ronaldo also scored in the Champions League this week and is inspiring footballers to look after themselves to extend their careers.

In fact, Ronaldo himself is partial to a gym session after a Champions League match. In a story told by Ronaldo's ex-fitness coach Giovanni Mauri, he explained how the Portuguese superstar would also treat himself to “recovery exercises” after an evening match.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano is a phenomenon and an elite level athlete," Mauri explained to Tuttosport.

"He always trains to the best possible level because his way of working is comprised of three things: dedication, competitiveness and a positive attitude.

"We are talking about a world class player who, when we returned home at 2am from a Champions League away match, would not jet off home in his car.

"No, he would stop at the training centre for at least an hour for various recovery exercises and cryotherapy."

Salah is very much following in the footsteps of Ronaldo, it seems.
