Former WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole recently addressed the reports that he was due to become a manager on the main roster of WWE.

Dave Meltzer reported on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Cole was set to become Keith Lee's 'manager' on the main roster; with the former NXT Champion having a Lio Rush/Bobby Lashley relationship with a Heel version of Lee.

The reaction to this online was fierce when Meltzer first reported it, however, Cole himself has now stated that he was never actually been pitched the idea by anyone in the company.

During an interview with TVInsider, the former NXT Champion would state had he had not heard of plans to move him up to WWE Raw as the mouthpiece for Lee:

“I personally have never heard anything regarding that. I touched base a little bit on how my meeting with Vince McMahon went really well. We talked for about 30 minutes. He had a lot of complimentary things to say. As far as hearing that specific thing, that was not something I heard about. My four years with NXT was fantastic. My four years with WWE was awesome, but at the end of the day, I wanted to end up with AEW. Now that I’m here, I’m stoked.”

Whilst Cole was not officially pitched the idea, it is still likely that the concept was being discussed by creative and WWE management.

Cole will be facing Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy on next week's episode of AEW Rampage alongside The Young Bucks.

In the second episode of the revamped Turnbuckle Talk podcast, Louis Dangoor and special guest Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful talk about the biggest news in professional wrestling, including Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole's AEW debuts, the health of Triple H, Kevin Owens potentially leaving WWE and more.
