Not many footballers retire and then come back months later to resume their careers at the highest level, but Paul Scholes is one of them.
The Manchester United legend initially brought the curtain down on his illustrious career at the end of the 2010-11 season.
But he made a sensational return to action six months later after feeling that he could still cut it at the highest level.
Scholes went on to play another one-and-a-half seasons for the Red Devils before hanging up his boots for a second time in the summer of 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson also retired.
Despite all he achieved throughout his glittering career, some football fans are convinced that Scholes was overrated.
They look at his career stats (often ignoring his remarkable haul of winners’ medals) and think ‘was this guy *really* all that?’.
This is despite the fact that virtually all of his former teammates - as well as a host of legendary opponents including Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi and Xavi - speak incredibly highly of the former England international.

The two-minute clip shows Scholes totally controlling the match, pinging inch-perfect passes across the pitch and with unerring accuracy.
Scholes inspired United to a 3-0 victory and ended the match by producing a delightful assist for Ryan Giggs.
