Journalist Paul Brown believes that Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend's early season form for Everton has made them undroppable.

How have they performed this season?

Eyebrows were raised when Gray made the £1.7m switch from Bayer Leverkusen after six tricky months in Germany, and Townsend joined on a free transfer following his departure from Crystal Palace.

However, the English duo have both been in inspired form at the start of the season and have played a major part in Everton racking up 10 points from four games.

Gray's clinical finish against Burnley was his third in three matches, which means he's only one goal behind his best league return during his six seasons at Leicester, whilst Townsend has already chipped in with two goals and added two assists in five appearances, including a man of the match display to help the Toffees come from behind to beat the Clarets on Monday.

They've been involved in 60 percent of Everton's 10 Premier League goals this term and have already more than justified their transfers.

What has Brown said about Gray and Townsend?

Brown has been pleasantly surprised by their form and told GIVEMESPORT that they're more than deserving their place in Rafael Benitez's side at present:

"I don't think anyone really considered Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend options to start every week, not even Everton did.

"I'm not convinced they were signed as players they wanted to start in the first XI every week. But it's worked, and you wouldn't drop either of them at the moment."

Should they be starting every week?

In just four league matches, Townsend and Gray have already done enough to prove they're good enough to be starting for Everton.

They're giving Benitez everything that he'd want from a wide man, and when Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns from injury, the Spaniard has a potentially mouth-watering front-four at his disposal.

But with only Alex Iwobi in reserve, Everton's fortunes in the coming weeks might now depend on the fitness and form of the red-hot Gray and Townsend.
