Gareth Bale says Tottenham Hotspur must build on their north London derby victory over Arsenal as they continue their assault on the top four.

Goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Waker ensured that Spurs hold the bragging rights in north London, which leave Harry Redknapp's side in fifth in the Barclays Premier League.

After the international break, Spurs travel to St James' Park to take on fourth placed Newcastle United, and Bale hopes the club can take momentum gained from their fourth league win on the spin against The Toon next weekend.

“We’ve been on a good run of late, we’ve been playing well and we definitely deserved the victory” he said.

“It’s massively important to have that momentum and to go away on an international break on a high.

“We’ve done that, now it’s important we get everyone back from the internationals fully fit and get our heads back on it.”

“They’ve (Newcastle) made a great start to the season.

“It will be a test for us, but one we’ll be ready for and hopefully we’ll go up there and make it five on the trot in the Premier League.”

Newcastle are currently unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League, with their last defeat coming at the start of last May against Liverpool, and currently possess the longest unbeaten run in the division of 10 matches.
