Hang on a minute, isn't eFootball 2022 free to play?

This is probably what you were thinking, and yes you would be right. But Konami, the game's developers, are offering up more options to fans of the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series that this title is effectively replacing.

The Japanese gaming giants are opting to follow a similar route that Fortnite has taken but adopting their strategy in the virtual footballing world, to create a whole new way of playing PES.

While the game will be free to play, Konami are selling players a purchasable optional extra called a Premium Player Pack - but what do you get for your money?

The eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack will cost £32.99 via the PlayStation Store, which is one of several retailers that the premium content can be purchased.

Listed below are the Bundle Contents with the Premium Player Pack:

  • eFootball™ 2022 core game
  • 2,800 eFootball™ Coins (premium in-game currency)
  • Chance Deals x6
  • A Chance Deal item allows you to sign 1 of 16 top-tier Ambassador and partner club players.
  • *This game and the bonus items are available only for the account you purchased.
  • *The Chance Deals will expire on 30/04/2022, so make sure to use them to sign your players before the expiration date.
  • *Players signed via a Chance Deal can only be used in eFootball™ 2022.
  • *Chance Deals and eFootball™ Coins can only be claimed and used after the update scheduled for mid-November of 2021.
  • *For further details regarding this product and upcoming updates, please check the official eFootball™ website.
  • *The "eFootball™ 2022 core game" included in this bundle is the same as the free-to-play version of the game.

The ambassador players mentioned above contain the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Marcus Rashford, Takefusa Kubo, Ansu Fati, Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan dos Santos. However, these are not coming until a future update that is planned for 11th November 2021.

However, players have been having issues trying to pre-order the Premium Player Pack, which forced Konami to release a statement via their official website:

They said: "We have been alerted of an issue with the pre-order of the eFootball™ 2022 Premium Player Pack via the PlayStation™Store. More specifically, when trying to access the purchase page from the link found in eFootball PES 2021, users are redirected to a page that says 'Content not found' and will not be able to pre-order the product.

"We are currently working on a solution for this issue, and we kindly ask that you withhold pre-ordering until it is resolved.

"Lastly, note that the discount will not be applied if you pre-order the product in the PlayStation™Store without using the discount link in-game."
