Big E won the WWE Championship on Monday Night Raw, and has since opened up about wanting to have the late Brodie Lee backstage with him to celebrate afterwards.

Speaking on WWE The Bump, Big E said that Brodie Lee was "on his mind" during his WWE Championship win over Bobby Lashley on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

The WWE Champion said that he wished Brodie Lee was there backstage to hug and talk to after his match, noting that he would have been one of the first to come and congratulate him:

“He was on my mind throughout. Of course, I love him dearly and I miss him. He was one of my best friends, such an incredible human being. I still stay connected with his wife and his kids. They actually FaceTimed me yesterday. He’s someone that means so much to everyone who knew and loved him. I just want to do my part to continue to keep shouting out my boy and keep his memory alive. Someone tweeted about Brodie, and my response was, you know, ‘I just wish he was there to hug backstage and to talk to’. I know how he was, man. He’d be one of the first to come up and congratulate me and pull me aside. I know he would have been happy for me.”

Brodie Lee (formerly Luke Harper in WWE) tragically lost his life in December 2020 after a battle with a non-COVID related lung issue.

The wrestling world was shocked following Brodie's passing, with wrestlers from all promotions taking to social media to share their memories and stories of the former WWE Superstar.

The outpouring of love and support for Brodie Lee's family following his tragic passing last year only goes to show just how beloved and respected he was within the wrestling community.
