Arsenal will firm up their interest in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak after finding a buyer for one of the frontmen already at the club, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What's the latest news involving Isak?

Isak scored 17 goals for La Liga outfit Real Sociedad last season and followed his fine form up with two assists as Sweden reached the last 16 of Euro 2020.

It led to interest from Arsenal as soon as the summer transfer window opened, with Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser suggesting the Gunners opened talks with his current employers in June.

Another Spanish publication, AS, claimed Arsenal were willing to pay his release clause of £59million in order to make the deal possible. The report also reveals Real Madrid were among the 21-year-old's suitors.

However, the north Londoners and Real Madrid suffered a major blow in their pursuit when Isak signed a new five-year deal with Real Sociedad.

To make matters worse, AS  have reported the striker's release clause has been increased to close to £80million.

Although that resulted in Isak remaining in Spain, Fichajes claim the striker could still make a move to the Premier League in the not-too-distant future.

What has Paul Brown said about Isak?

Brown believes Isak would be an impressive addition to Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side, who have been struggling for goals and only found the back of the net for the first time in the new Premier League season last weekend.

However, the journalist feels the Sweden international will only head to the Emirates Stadium after a departure is confirmed.

Brown told GMS: "It seems like he might be quite a good fit because of the style of play and the profile of the player.

"But I do think Arsenal would have to let somebody go before they bring someone like that in."

Have any Arsenal strikers been linked with a move away?

Alexandre Lacazette has entered the final year of his contract and Arsenal could see him depart for free next summer.

Chris Wheatley, of football.london, claims the 30-year-old has no intention of extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium.

According to the Transfer Window Podcast, the Gunners actively looked to sell Lacazette during the summer, but the Frenchman remains on their books.

It was reported before the transfer window even opened that Arsenal were open to selling academy product Eddie Nketiah for £20million.

Nketiah was on Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira's wishlist after taking charge at Crystal Palace.

However, the Eagles ended up signing Celtic frontman Odsonne Edouard instead as they were only willing to offer half of Arsenal's £20million asking price for Nketiah.
