England enjoyed a landslide win in their first match under new manager Sarina Wiegman last night.The Lionesses stormed to an 8-0 win in a World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia at the St Mary's Stadium.Manchester United's Ella Toone opened up the scoring after just 12 minutes before braces from Ellen White and Bethany England, two own goals and a late Beth Mead strike rounded off the evening.However, despite the dominant performance from her new side, Wiegman believes they could've done a lot more."We wanted to create a lot of chances and I think we have created lots of chances," the former Netherlands boss said after the game. "We scored eight – well, actually we scored six and they scored two – but I think we should have scored lots more goals. We should have been better in the final third with the final decisions and the final touch to score the goals."Sarina Wiegman and EnglandIndeed, England registered an astonishing 48 attempts against North Macedonia, with 18 on target. But with just eight goals in comparison, the stats show the Lionesses were rather wasteful in the majority of their finishing.Wiegman believes the Lionesses had an "OK" performance overall but ultimately knows the team should have scored a handful more.Perhaps if it wasn't for the valiant performance from North Macedonia goalkeeper Suarta Rechi, England would have been well into double figures by the end of the 90.Ella Toone and Bethany England"But still we scored eight and I think it's a very good start. I'm proud of the team," the boss said.Wiegman opted for a somewhat experimental starting eleven, with a good balance of experienced players and young talent.Lauren Hemp accompanied her Manchester City teammate Ellen White in attack, who is now the joint-third highest scorer in England Women's history thanks to her brace.Ellen WhiteElla Toone got the nod in midfield alongside captain of the evening Leah Williamson.Rachel Daly was also named in the starting lineup, and delivered a touching tribute to her late father after the match, dedicating the 8-0 win to him. The team wore black armbands to pay respect to his memory.

The Lionesses will return to action on September 21st against Luxembourg for their second World Cup qualifier.
