Media darling and poster girl for British tennis Emma Raducanu continues to rake in the praise off the back of her historic US Open win.

The 18-year-old became the first qualifier in the sport's history to win a major final – in her second Grand Slam run no less.

Raducanu has received plaudits in abundance from some of the world's biggest names, including Liverpool Football Club manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss paid huge respect to the teenager after her title win at Flushing Meadows, labelling her "the talent of the century."

Klopp admitted it had been a while since he'd watched a game of women's tennis, but the US Open final between Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez inspired him to follow the sport more closely.

"I was really impressed by the power, speed, and the whole game. Women’s tennis is obviously in a brilliant moment," he said. "These two girls were 18 and 19, and what they showed was massively impressive.

"Both during the game itself, and then during the trophy ceremony. Both girls, how they spoke, at 18 or 19, that was inspiring to be honest, even more so than the tennis! I was absolutely overwhelmed by the way the two girls presented themselves."

The ever-humble Raducanu has taken the time to personally thank those who have supported and encouraged her since her title win.

"It’s very, very nice to hear and I’m very grateful," she said. "I think that women’s tennis at the moment is extremely strong and the game has all of the players who can win pretty much every event and I’m really grateful to Mr Jurgen Klopp for his comment."

Indeed, the US Open Women's Singles final pulled in more viewers than the men's final between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. ESPN reported that their coverage of Raducanu's win was watched by an average of 2.44 million people with a peak of 3.4 million.

The men's final recorded an average viewing audience of 2.05 million and a peak of 2.7 million.

The US major marked the end of the Grand Slam calendar for 2021 and Raducanu will undoubtedly already be looking towards the Australian Open in January for her chance of a second title.
