Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel really are a force to be reckoned with.

The Blues continued their formidable start to the 2021/22 season on Sunday afternoon with a resounding 3-0 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea now sit top of the Premier League table, ahead of both Liverpool and Manchester United after conceding just one goal in their five games.

One of the main reasons behind the west London club's superb defensive record is Thiago Silva, the legendary centre-back who will soon turn 37.

The Brazilian icon starred in the 3-0 victory over Aston Villa last weekend and he managed to top that performance against Spurs.

Silva didn't give Harry Kane a sniff of goal throughout the course of the match and it was his header from Marcos Alonso's corner that put Chelsea 1-0 up at the start of the second half.

Per Squawka, the former Paris Saint-Germain man won 100% of his aerial duels, completed seven ball recoveries, made six clearances and didn't commit a single foul.

That really is the definition of a defensive masterclass.

Unsurprisingly, Silva's performance attracted a lot of attention on social media and soon after the victory over Spurs, a video of his individual highlights emerged on Twitter.

Is it really any wonder that Silva was named Man of the Match?

He didn't put a foot wrong at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and 'O Monstro' always showed a touch of class when the ball was under his control.

Silva's ageless display in north London was praised to the rafters online and you can check out some of the very best reaction below.

After the game, Tuchel gave his take on Silva's masterclass and it's safe to say the German manager - like the rest of us - was very, very impressed.

"Outstanding," he replied when asked about the 36-year-old's performance. "He almost scored twice. He was so strong; Deliveries were good for his goals.

"We are very happy that he was able to score to open the game for us today. But the performance even in the first half was outstanding, fantastic. Well deserved, he was outstanding today."
